I’m BACK!!

Hello there!

As you can see below I have started posting Ugly Ships again, Yeah!
While on sabattical of this site I did keep on gathering victims and I found some inspiration as well. It’s going to be different then before though: only pics, no talking, short & sweet. Clicking on the pic will get you to a page with more info about & pictures of the vessel (if available) but no more.

Also new is that everything is now linked: WordPress, Tumblr, Facebook & Twitter so making it more easy for little old me.
And it will take less effort doing posts so easier to keep up momentum, although please do not expect a regular like clockwork service, I’ve got a life to live & work to do as well. ;-D

But for now I’m looking forward to it all, let me know what you think!

All the best, keep having fun!

UglyShips.tumblr.com

As you may have noticed it is a bit quit around here. I would like to see it otherwise but unfortunately commitments in my personal & professional life are coming in the way of actually posting some good posts about the Ugly Ships of the world on here. And believe me: they are still out there.

So, in order to not let this site go down I have come up with a cunning plan! For the coming time I will start posting pictures (and only pictures) of a variety of Ugly Ships on the new extension of this site: UglyShips.tumblr.com so at least you will be able to get your daily/weekly/monthly fix of Ugly Ships. The tumblr set-up will allow me to post quicker & easier so hopefully the updates will be more often over there.

This doesn’t mean I’m not going to post “quality” post on here anymore, I will but only when the time & circumstances allow me to.

I will think of a way to get the pics posted here as well, maybe a weekly post or so, we’ll see.

So enjoy the ugliness on the other side,

Grtz

Restoration DONE!

Hello all,

Well, after numerous hours clicking away on the interwebs (inbetween my normal day-to-day stuff & giving the garden a full-blown make-over for the summer) with as main result a lame hand I have finally finished restoring all the links to the 1700+ pictures in the 539 posts already posted on this site. And in the mean time correcting numerous spelling & other mistakes. All the missing pictures are now stored on my server so I will (hopefully) not loose them again for a third time. So I’m ready for another 6 months of vacation from this site to focus on bringing you more news from the world of Ugly Ships. Be prepared & be afraid, very afraid!

All the best & have fun!

SeaBart

BTW: it was actually quite fun to read my first posts, some of which I had forgotten all about already, so please make sure you keep on reading till the last (or is it the first?) post.

BTW 2: I’m off doing offshore stuff again as well for another 4 weeks so we’ll have to see how much time I can spend on here.

Save Our Seafarers

Please read the below text from SaveOurSeafarers.com & please take the time to send a letter to your government….just follow the links.

Over 800 seafarers are being held hostage by armed gangs of Somali pirates, in appalling conditions, subject to physical and psychological abuse, for up to 8 months.

Their ships have been hijacked at sea and they are being held for ransoms of millions of dollars. The human cost to seafarers and their families is enormous.

This affects YOU. Piracy is beginning to strangle key supply routes. 90% of the world’s food, fuel, raw materials and manufactured goods is delivered by sea. Nearly half of the world’s seaborne oil supply passes through the pirate-infested parts of the western and northern Indian Ocean.

But the world’s politicians don’t seem to realise the severity of the crisis. World trade is under threat. Piracy costs the global economy $7-12bn a year. Yet even when caught red handed by naval forces, 80% of pirates are released to attack again.

You can help stop this hostage-taking and help restore the freedom of the seas. Please add your voice to our worldwide call for government action. More robust laws, stronger enforcement of international conventions and firmer political resolve are needed to stop these pirates.

It will only take you three clicks to send a SOS letter, in your name, directly to your chosen Head of Government.

I support this campaign to urge our governments to step up their efforts to eradicate piracy from the worlds Seven Seas & the Indian Ocean in particular; for the safety of me & my colleagues crossing the affected area’s in the Indian Ocean (which continue to grow in size) & to help those already held captive ….can you please do the same??

Thank you very much, on behalf of me & my seafaring colleagues.

Nauti-Cool.com

Although it has been a bit quite around here, it doesn’t automatically mean that I have been sitting around doing nothing. I have been and am at the moment very busy, mainly doing offshore stuff but I did find some time here and there to launch a new website: Nauti-Cool.

During my travels over the uncharted waters of the oh-so famous Interwebs searching for victims to present to you on this very site I also sometimes stumble upon cool Nautical stuff: pics, vids, quotes & more, and I thought it to be a pity I couldn’t share them with you out there.

So if you fancy a refreshing taste from the daily ugly bizznizz here then please feel free to go visit the new neighbor and have a look! (there will be (hardly) no ramblings from me……must also be a good thing!)

Holiday!!

Right: my case is packed, my plane is waiting…..I’m off on holiday for the coming 2 weeks, no interwebs, no mobile phone, no nothing so the ugly Ships of this world also can relax for the moment. See you when I’m back.

And if you are going yourself as well: have a good one!

Pimp my Ship

Yesterday I did an attempt (here) in the socalled art of photoshopping…..wasn’t very successful but I managed to get my message across (I think). And today I stumble upon (via http://www.gCaptain.com) a website that has a small challenge: Pimp my Ship. Read more about it here on 5956n.typepad.com.

Basically you deliver the ideas and they do the art. Besides eternal honor and credit for the idea there is nothing to gain. Might be fun though, it’s a page to keep an eye on!

So let the ideas coming! I’m already brainstorming!

Offshore once again

While you are reading this I, SeaBart, am doing offshore-stuff again. This time just off the coast of Côte d’Ivoire. Just a quickie, a simple operation so I should be home soon, hopefully. I have some posts ready to publish and they shall pop up automatically so you won’t be too bored awaiting my return.
