If you are a regular on this site you might remeber the Kergi, the Sea Baltica & Sea Nordica and the Balmung. The common demeanor for all these vessels is that they have holes in their respective accomodations. (more…)

It seems to be pretty well established that car carriers are among the ugliest ships out there plying the cargo lanes. If that’s true, then only three quarters of a car carrier shouldn’t be as ugly, right?

Wrong. (more…)

NOR Tigerfish

Build :2007 by Jaya Asiatic Shipyard – Batam in Indonesia, nr 860 as NOR Sky

I know that heli-decks are the latest “must have-accessory” in the offshore vessel world but in my opinion this is just a little bit over the top. Or actually: quite a bit OTT.
It’s like the shy gentle kid at school suddenly going all wild and showing up one day with a big pink mohawk.

At least the crew doesn’t have to bother filling up the forepeak ballast water tank anymore.

Here she is in her “gentle”-period.

Thansk again to Denis for the tip!

Both vessels were welded together in 1969 by De Groot & van Vliet” -  Slikkerveer in the Netherlands

Right, so you thought the idea of Allseas creating a catamaran of 2 existing vessels (the Pieter Schelte) was new. Well, it wasn’t. Somewhere in the second half of the 60′s somebody had a brainstorm and got the wild idea to weld 2 coasters together, put on a heavy lift derrick and thus creating a Heavy Lift Vessel. (possibly the genesis of the Heavy Lift World). (more…)

Andrew M. tipped me about this little bugger : the Lady Norman, a very small pushertug from the land of Down-under looking very odd and definitely worth a post here on the site. Maybe even considerable as cute & cuddly?

As Andrew said: the pope is more than welcome to visit Brisbane, the pope-boat is ready for the tour!

I do like the sharks teeth on the bow though, funny touch!

Andrew, thanks for the tip! Visit his website here: www.aquamanships.com
