Jumbo Challenger

IMO : 8110887

Build : 1982 by YVC Ysselwerf, Cappele a/d IJssel, The Netherlands, nr 204

Here is a ship of my favourite types again:  a heavy lift vessel. As said before, these vessels can get away with being ugly because of their job but this one and her sistership, the Fairmast (IMO: 8110899) are just too strange for words.

From all angels she looks sooo odd! So I’ll just let the pictures do the talking!

From straight forward she’s also a bit intimidating.

Here is one from the stern, somebody has been creative, see the outcut!

    According to Equasis:

    Jumbo Challenger:
Status of ship : To Be Broken Up (since 10-06-2011)
Status of ship : Broken Up (since 02-07-2011)

Fairmast (named “Fairy” on her voyage to Alang):
Status of ship : To Be Broken Up (since 28-02-2011)
Status of ship : Broken Up (since 07-04-2011)

Maybe a lot of people who witnessed these ships would be happy to hear this & Justin Beaver could sing “One Less Ugly Ship”, but I nearly shed a tear… THEY WERE MY FAVOURITE HEAVY LIFT SHIPS!!!
