Viking 1

IMO : ??

Build : 1925 by Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company, Manitowoc, Wisconsin in the USA, nr ?? as Ann Arbor no 7

While doing some research on the Mighty Deliverer from a few days ago I happen to stumble upon another whale-like vessel, this one: The Viking 1

Build in 1925 (!!) this vessel, one of 6 sisterships, sailed the Great Lakes in Canada for years and years and years and years. After having a hugh modification done in 1964 she continued to sail for years and years and years and years till she was laid up in 1983.

After changed ownership a few times she was finally towed away in 2003, 78 years after being build, apparently to be converted into a barge.

This is how she looked before the conversion:

By the way: this was the tug that towed her away: the Olive L. Moore

Also a good contender in the whale-alike-looking contest!

We might came back to her in a later stage!
