IMO : 9167966

Build : 1998 by Damen Shipyards, Gorinchem in the Netherlands, nr 403

Another multipurpose vessel that can be used for a load of activities (duh, multipurpose said it all) and probably isn’t really suited for any of the tasks thought for her. We have seen & discussed one before and this one probably isn’t any better. Although she apparently is one of the world’s most advanced oil clearing vessels……but why the heck did they make her so ugly.  And then the paintjob: it’s the standard color for all vessels belonging to the Dutch Government and it’s hideous, Yuk, bleeeh!

And as for her coast guard duties: any sailor misbehaving on the high seas will watch out multiple times before being apprehended by the crew of this vessel: the color just makes sure that not a mouse stirs when she is around.

As an example another vessel of the Dutch government with the same appealing paintjob: the Zirfea

  1. bonnie says:

Do they supply the crew with aspirin, or maybe a pair of sunglassses to block the glare?

  2. seabart says:

I happen to know one of the crewmembers, I haven’t heard him talking about it but will inform when I see him again, just to be sure!

Wouldn’t surprise me if they were wearing blindfolds though ;-D
