IMO :9030163

Build : 1990 by VEB Schiffswerft Neptun, Rostock in Germany, nr 118 as Leningrad

A bucket ladder dredger: I didn’t know that these things still existed, thought that all had been replaced by more modern type’s of dredging equipment. I can see another reason why these dredgers should be on the brink of extinction: they are very ugly!

I actually wonder why they bothered to put some kind of wheelhouse on the aft: the visibility is none-existing. (it might be the dredging-operating station-post…duh!)

They tried to lessen the visible impact of her ugliness by painting her in a more fashionable blue-ish colors but that didn’t all!

I have the suspicious feeling that this vessel didn’t start her life as a dredger but got build as a general cargo ship of some kind and got converted very early in her life, maybe even already during the new build.
