Wappen von Hamburg

IMO : 6510887

Build : 1965 by Howaldtswerke Hamburg A.G., Hamburg in Germany, nr 973

Flower Power!! Lovely gorgeous flowers on a German ferry!! how lovely, how flowery!

And how utterly ridiculous & ugly!

Here she is without the flowers:

Much better!!

And to complicate matters: her predecessor was also called “Wappen von Hamburg”, she looked the same, named the same except she was build in 1962 and 5 meters shorter. She was renamed as soon as this Wappen was introduced. Anyway: she once in her lifetime also had a ridiculous paintjob:

Must be running in the family!

what a “new” news ! that flower-paintjob was “on” during the Bundesgartenschau, i think, aeons ago.
The Owners HADAG, to confuse all, used to call their
vessel for the Hamburg/Helgoland run “Wappen von Hamburg”
Every time the vsl got replaced by a newbuilding, the neame was
transferred to the new one. Pretty easy to understand.
The first “Wapen von Hamburg” by the way, was a two-decker sailing
warship, so called convoy-ship, to protect Hamburg’ cargo ships
from pirates in the 16th ?? century.

I never implied I was bringing press-stopping news. Thanks for the rest of the info anyway!
