Spabunker Twenty

IMO : 9237163

Build : 2002 by Unión Naval de Valencia, S.A. – Valencia in Spain, nr 286 as Spabunker Veinte

When I was still sailing for a general cargo-company we used to make jokes about how they designed their ships. And that went as follows:

Take a shoebox, fold a paper in half, open it up and glue to one side. Then do the same to another paper but glue it on the other side, a bite diagonal. Take an oversized wingnut and connect that to the diagonal glued paper. Ship is finished! Oh, don’t forget to find the smallest box you can find and glue that somewhere on the ship as an accommodation!

Yeah, I know it’s a lame joke but I guess you had to be there. ;-D Anyway: this appears to be exactly what the designers of  this bunkervessel did. There are only straight lines on this vessel, very simple. You would only need a ruler!

And although I can see the advantages, mainly in the reducing of design & build costs I still think she is not very pleasing to the eye….aka: ugly!

This name is brilliant: Spabunker. I love the way it rolls off the tongue.
