Viking Poseidon

IMO : 9413535

Build : 2008 by Ulstein Verft AS – Ulsteinvik in Norway, nr 281

This is also one of the vessels that was roaming the field where we were working for the last 6 weeks. I know we have had the discussion already a long time ago but I still do think that these vessels look like cheap trainers. And this one is a prime example of that opinion, especially in these colors.

Still the ugly verdict then!

And to silence some critics: Yes, I do know that this design makes for a better sea-keeping capability for these vessels but I still think it looks ugly!

Please see below You-tube video for a good comparison between an X-bow vessel and a vessel with a traditional bow.

Wow! I work across the water from where the ship is tied up. What an incredible boat. Looks very sophisticated and technical. I would love to work on a vessel like that.

Is there anywhere I could find a timeline or calendar of events for the Viking Poseidon in response to the oil spill?

  8. Wiktor says:

Gentlemen, I have passed VP today, just a few miles away. It is truly beautiful vessel. Could you tell me which agency/company employs bridge officers in there? Thank you and I hope one day we will see on board! Wiktor
