Soviet Space Ships
Space support vessels, with their huge antenna arrays in order to communicate with spacecraft, have always been quite awkward looking vessels, and the Soviets were definitely champions at achieveing that level of awkwardness.
On a basic level, these are actually pretty good looking vessels, save a few, when you look at just the base structure. The lines of the hull and superstructure are actually pretty nice, reminiscent a bit of seventies and eighties passenger vessels.
However, with half of a secret government communications facility from the Mojave Desert thrown on top of them, that inherent sleekness disappears, kind of like a greyhound wearing an Elizabethan collar after visiting the vet.
Apart from the Kosmonavt Vladimir Komarov (IMO: 6707404) and Kosmonavt Yuriy Gagarin (IMO: 7116286) pictured above, the following ridiculous vessels have also plied the seas.
Akademik Sergei Korolev:
Kosmonavt Pavel Belyaev:
Marshall Nedelin:
SSV-33 Ural:
this looks like the ship with the big boobies and the other like it has giant fruit bowls, ugly indeed.
Shup up meg.
