Vale Brasil

IMO : 9488918

Build : 2011 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd – Gyeongsangnam-do  in S-Korea, nr 1201

The King is surpassed, long live the King! For years & years & years (actually since 1986) the Berge Stahl was the biggest bulkcarrier in the whole wide world. Primarily trading between Brasil & Rotterdam she could carry 364.767 tons of iron ore.

But after 25 years she lost her throne. The Vale Brasil is the first of a series of bulkcarriers capable of carrying 402.347 tons of coal.

A small comparison:

The Berge Stahl already was a monster of the seas, the Vale Brasil is even more monstruous! And please be notified that the same company is building 35 bulkcarriers between 388.00o and 400.000 tons DWT in the coming years. Ouch….Overkill is a bit of an understatement here!

You surely don’t want to wander in the path of these behemoths with your little plastic yachtie.
