Caballo Galiceno Don Alfonso

IMO : 9549229

Build : 2011 by Scheepswerf De Hoop – Foxhol in the Netherlands, nr 434

When I saw the above picture the other day I initially thought that they hadn’t finished painting the superstructure and it was still partly covered in primer. But then I looked better and I actually saw it’s meant to resemble a seahorse…

Although I do applaud the concept & idea, I think the execution & the color of the poor seahorse could have been improved….a lot!

Update (14-07-2011)

Before this supplier was launched / delivered to her owners they already changed her name, she is now called Don Alfonso. Don’t ask me why because I have no idea. But that’s not all, otherwise it wouldn’t be worthy of an update!

They also put sponsons on both sides of  the vessel to increase her deadweight and possibly her stability. This is actually a very fast way to degrade a perfectly normal supplier into a ugly monstrosity. Now she looks like a lame duck with a seahorse tattoo on her  neck.
