A long long time ago (actually in October 2009) I published this post about the USS Long Beach in which I mentioned that “She had the highest bridge of any ship in the US Navy smaller than an actual aircraft carrier”. Gus K tipped me about the Albany-class cruisers which came second on that ranking scale.
Here is the Chicago next to the Long Beach, for comparison:
Except for that factoid we can also see that they were kinda ugly…..
