This is how the vessel used to look before the conversion to cattle carrier:

On the 2nd of september 2020 this vessel and 40 of its 43 crewmembers went missing in the East China Sea during a typhoon, three crewmembers were later found alive on the location of the sinking, unfortunately one of them died after being rescued.
I “discovered” this ugly looking vessel earlier in the year and hadn’t posted it yet.
I did think long & hard about what to do with this one and I decided to post it anyway.
Let this be a small monument to the memory of the seafarers who sailed on this vessel & are still missing at sea, and as a general reminder to how ugly the shipping industry can be.
May all rest in peace and lots of strength to the family & friends of the deceased & missing crew.

I’m back from the Grand Banks, haven’t done a George Clooney on you (hint: The Perfect Storm) and I will start to give some attention to this little site. Unfortunately things at Ugly Ships-central will quit be busy for the coming time…….so I’ll try to do a daily update but when that doesn’t happen: please don’t be afraid!! There will be more coming, just not at the moment you thought to expect it!
So see you around!!
Grtz,
SeaBart!
Due to some busy times here at Uglyships-central the posting of new discoveries has been a bit irregular, this will unfortunately continue for a little while. Also the fact that I have a last-minute kinda-urgent Offshore-job in Canadian waters (courtesy of my new employer) doesn’t help the regular update process here.
So please hang in there, or here, come back now & then and I promise that as soon as I got a bit of time on my hands AND a decent internet-connection I will be posting again.
Don’t hold your breath though!!
Thanks for the patience, understanding etc etc and I’ll be back asap…….
Grtz
SeaBart
